The Sylvania Police Division provides Webcheck, fingerprint services and local background checks for citizens who live, work or attend school within the City of Sylvania limits. All services must be done in-person with a valid ID.
Webcheck services are for FBI (nationwide) or BCI (state of Ohio) background checks. Webcheck is an electronic scan of fingerprints. The fee for each is $50.
For inked/rolled fingerprinting the fee is $60. Fingerprints are inked and rolled onto a fingerprint card which is usually provided by the party requesting the prints. Cards are not provided by the police division.
A local background check, which is a search of the records of the Sylvania Police Division only, is provided free of charge.
Payment is accepted by exact cash or check, payable to the City of Sylvania. No credit or debit cards are accepted at this time.
No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are accepted Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding holidays.
